The Department of Families, Social Welfare and Dependency has significantly expanded the public residential care network for people with severe mental disorders, achieving a 90% increase in available places during the current legislative period. Capacity has grown from 64 supervised housing places to a total of 120, including the introduction of new shared housing resources.

This expansion is part of a broader strategy aimed at ensuring access to supported housing while promoting a community-based care model that enhances autonomy and social inclusion. A new supervised housing facility in Sa Pobla, offering six places, has been added to the network, providing personalized support and assistance with daily living activities.

The current system includes 70 places in supervised housing and 50 in shared apartments, designed to accommodate different levels of independence. This structure is complemented by additional services such as home-based support, accompaniment programs, occupational services, and day care centres, forming a comprehensive network with a total capacity of 739 places.

Support for individuals with cognitive impairment has also been strengthened through the integration of specialized day care services, which provide comprehensive care and assistance to both users and their families. Funding allocated to these services ensures their stability and long-term continuity.

These measures reinforce a person-centred care approach that prioritizes community integration, independent living, and improved quality of life, contributing to a more inclusive and effective social support system.
