The Balearic Islands recorded a 4.01% decrease in workplace accidents in 2025 compared to the previous year, confirming a sustained downward trend and placing the region above the national average. This improvement ranks the islands as the seventh region with the greatest reduction in occupational accidents, highlighting the effectiveness of prevention and monitoring policies.
The decline in accident rates was observed across all economic sectors, with a notable improvement in construction, where the region no longer leads in accident incidence following a 3.39% annual decrease. Reductions were also recorded in agriculture, industry, services and hospitality, indicating a broad enhancement in workplace safety conditions.

From a territorial perspective, most islands experienced positive trends, with decreases in Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza. In contrast, Formentera showed a temporary increase, largely due to the smaller size of its active workforce, which results in more variable statistical outcomes.
Regarding fatal accidents, a total of 15 cases were reported in 2025, representing a slight increase compared to the previous year. A significant proportion of these incidents occurred outside the workplace, particularly during commuting or under specific professional circumstances.
Preventive actions played a key role in achieving these results. Throughout the year, inspections increased substantially, exceeding 3,300 company visits, with a targeted focus on businesses exhibiting higher accident rates. This approach enabled the evaluation of safety systems and encouraged the implementation of corrective measures.
In addition, monitoring efforts were reinforced in large-scale projects such as the Palma airport works, alongside targeted campaigns addressing emerging risks, including those related to heatwaves. These measures reflect a proactive safety management model based on prevention, oversight and collaboration among public authorities, companies and social stakeholders.
