The 2025 income tax campaign officially begins today in the Balearic Islands, offering taxpayers access to 24 regional deductions designed to support middle- and lower-income households. This year’s campaign introduces several key updates aimed at expanding eligibility and increasing overall tax savings.
One of the most significant new measures is a deduction for property owners affected by illegal occupation or eviction suspensions due to tenant vulnerability. This provision allows taxpayers to deduct up to 40% of related expenses, with a maximum limit of 500 euros, covering costs such as property tax, utilities, and legal proceedings.

Additionally, self-employed workers are now aligned with large and single-parent families in terms of eligibility for specific deductions. These include benefits related to school textbooks, childcare and work-life balance expenses for children under six, and primary residence rental costs. The reform also enables an increase of up to 20% in income thresholds for accessing these deductions.
Another notable change is the increase of this threshold adjustment to 30% for special-category large families, further extending tax relief to households with greater financial responsibilities.
Over the current legislative period, several new deductions have been introduced, addressing areas such as birth and adoption, elderly care, support for self-employment, specific health-related expenses, and incentives to promote long-term rental housing. Existing deductions have also been enhanced to reach a broader segment of taxpayers.
Data from the previous campaign highlights the effectiveness of these measures, with over 111,000 taxpayers benefiting from regional deductions and achieving total savings exceeding 39 million euros. Both participation and financial impact have grown significantly compared to earlier years.
Taxpayers are advised to carefully review their draft returns to ensure all applicable deductions are correctly applied and to maximize potential savings.
