The Serra de Tramuntana once again became a living space of knowledge, culture and nature this Sunday, with around twenty participants taking part in the Volta a la vall d’Esporles: ruta de les meravelles, held in the municipality of Esporles. The activity, which took place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., allowed attendees to explore some of the most representative locations in the area, in an experience marked by historical dissemination and the value of oral storytelling.
Led by specialist Tomàs Vibot, the excursion stood out particularly for its narration of legends and traditions linked to the territory, adding a cultural dimension that went beyond a simple scenic walk. The guide’s enthusiasm and his ability to contextualize each part of the route with local stories were among the aspects most appreciated by participants.

Over nearly three and a half hours, the group discovered characteristic elements of the cultural landscape of Tramuntana, such as ancient paths, dry-stone constructions and spaces connected to traditional rural life, in a day that combined nature, history and social interaction.
🌄 A programme to understand and value Tramuntana
The activity is part of a programme promoted by the Consell de Mallorca under the slogan “La Tramuntana es viu i es camina”, an initiative that includes a total of 18 guided and free routes aimed at bringing citizens closer to the Serra’s heritage, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011.
Programme coordinator Aina Mora highlighted that these routes are not only designed to promote outdoor activity, but also to “understand the landscape” through its history, traditions and evolution over time. The routes are led by experts such as Aina Mora, Tomàs Vibot, Joan Carles Palos and Marci Bestard.
The island institution also emphasizes the educational and awareness-raising nature of the initiative, aimed at strengthening the connection between the population and their natural and cultural environment.
📅 Upcoming excursions in the coming months
The programme will continue over the next few months with new routes across Mallorca:
📍 May 2 – Deià
📍 May 9 – Valldemossa
📍 May 16 – Sóller
📍 June 6 – Valldemossa
The routes last approximately two to three hours, are accessible to a general audience and require prior registration due to limited places.
