The Foundation for People with Disabilities of Menorca inaugurated on April 24 a new facility for the Taller Jove programme in Ciutadella, reinforcing support for young people with intellectual disabilities in their path toward social and labour inclusion. The event was attended by the president of the Consell Insular de Menorca and the foundation, Adolfo Vilafranca, who highlighted the importance of this initiative in developing structured pathways to employment.
Taller Jove is part of the foundation’s pre-employment area and is aimed at individuals aged 18 to 29 who need to develop habits, skills and routines to access the labour market. Through training workshops, targeted practice and real-life work experiences, the programme provides personalised support to enhance each participant’s abilities under the guidance of specialised professionals.

Foundation for People with Disabilities opens new Taller Jove facility in Ciutadella
Since its launch as a pilot initiative in 2019 in Maó with six participants, the programme has shown steady growth. Currently, the two Taller Jove centres operating on the island support a total of 23 young people —14 in Maó and 9 in Ciutadella— with further expansion expected in the coming academic year.
The initiative has also established a solid network of collaborating companies, offering participants direct exposure to professional environments. In Ciutadella, partnerships have been developed with 16 companies, while in Maó the network exceeds 40 organisations. This expansion has led to the need for improved facilities and additional staff to meet increasing demand.
The new premises provide a more suitable environment to enhance service delivery and strengthen the programme’s objective of promoting autonomy and inclusion in the labour market. The opening also reinforces the foundation’s presence in Ciutadella and consolidates Taller Jove as a key resource for supporting young people in their transition to employment and community integration.
The inauguration recognised the role of families, partner companies and professional teams, underlining their collective contribution to the programme’s success and to advancing inclusive opportunities across the island.
