Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB) has approved a new regulation governing the use of public boat ramps in ports and facilities under direct management for the 2026 season. The measure establishes a transitional framework aimed at organizing access and use while the final legal structure for public tendering of authorizations is being developed.
The decision follows a sustained increase in demand for ramp usage in recent years, particularly linked to boat rental activities and water-based services. In a context of limited availability of port public domain resources, the regulation seeks to balance access, economic activity and efficient management.

PortsIB regulates the use of public boat ramps in directly managed ports for the 2026 season
Under the new rules, public ramps will generally be reserved for private-use vessels (list 7 classification). However, exceptions are предусмотрены for activities considered essential or of public interest, including public services, research, environmental protection, professional fishing and maintenance or repair operations.
As a transitional measure, companies that held authorizations in 2025 will be allowed to continue operating in 2026, subject to specific limitations. These include the use of a single ramp per operator and restrictions on certain types of vessels, with the aim of preventing congestion and ensuring orderly use of facilities.
The regulation also introduces safety measures, such as the prohibition of passenger boarding and disembarking on ramps using auxiliary vessels.
Through this initiative, PortsIB aims to ensure a structured, safe and efficient use of public ramps, while maintaining economic activity in the nautical sector during the transition toward a definitive allocation system based on public tender procedures.
