The Government of the Balearic Islands has reinforced its commitment to energy transition after reaching a new milestone in March, managing a record number of aid applications linked to European Next Generation funds. Through the Energy Transition Offices (OTEIB), nearly 600 cases were processed in just one month, reflecting the growing engagement of both citizens and businesses in adopting more sustainable energy models.
This level of activity highlights the strategic role of the OTEIB network in facilitating access to financial support for self-consumption projects, energy efficiency improvements, and renewable energy implementation. The technical and administrative guidance provided by these offices has proven crucial in streamlining procedures and supporting informed decision-making.

Energy transition in the Balearic Islands reaches record with nearly 600 aid applications processed in one month
In the same period, the service handled a total of 1,472 inquiries, marking the highest level of user engagement to date and confirming a sustained upward trend for the second consecutive month. This increase demonstrates a rising demand from individuals, companies, and public administrations seeking to optimize energy consumption and reduce costs.
Among all activities, subsidy-related procedures stand out, with 587 applications processed, mainly linked to European funding programs. These figures underline both the effectiveness of the service model and its responsiveness to a context shaped by increasing interest in sustainable energy solutions.
The service maintains extensive territorial coverage across the islands, combining six permanent offices with mobile teams that operate in multiple municipalities. This structure ensures accessible, efficient, and locally adapted support for energy-related initiatives.
The regional government emphasizes that these results confirm the positive impact of its public policies on energy transition and the strong uptake of available support mechanisms. In a context of growing awareness of energy savings and renewable sources, the OTEIB system is emerging as a key driver of decarbonization.
From the Institut Balear de l’Energia, its manager Marta Pons highlighted that the March data reflects a clear shift toward a more sustainable energy model, with increasing participation from both households and businesses. She also underlined the importance of the offices in providing close and effective support throughout the entire process.
Through these initiatives, the Balearic Government continues to strengthen its support for citizens, businesses, and local administrations, with the aim of accelerating decarbonization and consolidating a more sustainable energy model across the islands.
