The Govern de les Illes Balears has approved a €250,000 grant to support the official federated school-age competition programme for 2026. Managed through the Conselleria de Turismo, Cultura y Deportes and its Directorate General for Sports, the initiative aims to strengthen youth participation in organized sports and enhance competitive structures at an early age.

A total of 17 sports federations have been selected as beneficiaries, following the evaluation of 20 submitted projects. These federations will be responsible for organizing the official regional finals across the Balearic Islands, covering a wide range of disciplines including athletics, basketball, cycling, swimming, volleyball and tennis, among others.

Balearic Government grants €250,000 to support federated school sports competitions in 2026

The funding model предусматривает an initial advance payment of 60% of the total grant, with the remaining 40% to be processed once the beneficiary entities have properly justified all related expenses. This structure ensures both operational support and accountability in the use of public funds.

Federations are required to submit full financial documentation within one month following the completion of the competitions or from the publication date of the resolution if the events have already taken place. This requirement is part of the administrative framework designed to ensure transparency and compliance.

Through this measure, the Government reinforces its commitment to school sports as a key driver of healthy lifestyles, social inclusion and the development of core values such as discipline, teamwork and respect from an early age.
