The Consell de Mallorca is progressing with the draft law for the Serra de Tramuntana through a new phase of institutional dialogue focused on close cooperation with local municipalities. This stage coincides with the public consultation period, aiming to gather contributions that strengthen the legal framework and ensure broad consensus.
The Minister of Presidency, Toni Fuster, together with the island director for the Serra, Toni Solivellas, and the manager of the Serra de Tramuntana Consortium, Lluís Vallcaneras, has launched a new round of meetings with mayors from municipalities within the area. These sessions provide an opportunity to review the drafted document in detail and submit proposals for improvement.

Dialogue with municipalities continues to agree on the draft law for the Serra de Tramuntana
A two-month consultation period has been established, doubling the timeframe of previous legislative processes, to allow municipalities, organizations and citizens sufficient time to analyze the draft and present amendments. This extended period reinforces transparency and encourages meaningful participation.
The proposed legislation is designed as a strategic tool to safeguard the protection, management and long-term sustainability of the Serra de Tramuntana, a landscape recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The initiative reflects the Council’s commitment to developing a law aligned with the needs of the region and its communities.
This round of meetings continues a broader participatory process that has already included preliminary consultations with municipalities, structured proposal gathering and an open public consultation. In the coming weeks, the Council will extend engagement to social, environmental and economic stakeholders connected to the Serra to further refine the draft before its final approval process.
