The Govern de les Illes Balears has achieved a reduction in waiting times for dependency assessments following the implementation of its action plan, bringing the current average down to 206 days. This represents a 7.2% decrease compared to May 2023, when the average stood at 222 days, and significantly improves upon the national average of 329 days.
The Regional Minister for Social Affairs, Sandra Fernández, presented these figures during a parliamentary session, highlighting the progress made in recent months. She noted that the measures introduced have streamlined administrative procedures and strengthened the system’s capacity to respond to increasing demand.

At the same time, the number of dependency-related benefits has risen by 33% during the current legislative term. The total has increased from 43,669 benefits in May 2023 to 57,918 recorded in March, demonstrating a sustained expansion of social support coverage.
In addition, the government is advancing a new infrastructure plan that will provide 693 new care places. These include 335 residential places, 250 day-care places and 108 supervised housing units. This expansion complements the 899 socio-healthcare places currently under development.
Through these initiatives, the Balearic Government strengthens its commitment to improving dependency care, enhancing both service capacity and management efficiency across the social welfare system.
