Five audiovisual projects from the Balearic Islands have been selected as finalists at the tenth edition of CONECTA Magaluf-Mallorca, highlighting the growing international recognition of local creative talent. The event, scheduled to take place from May 25 to 28 in Mallorca, has assessed a total of 271 projects from 34 countries, reaffirming its status as a key platform for audiovisual development and financing across Europe and the Americas.

The final selection, structured around four international pitching sessions, reflects both global competitiveness and the increasing visibility of the Balearic audiovisual sector. Among the selected projects are “Habitación Cero” by Escaleta Audiovisual in the vertical series category; “Nua” by Empatic in drama; “Mallorca Things to do” by Bastera Films in comedy; and the streaming-focused films “Nana”, co-produced by Cinètica Produccions, and “Rosa Canina” by Espaitemps.

Five Balearic projects reach finals at CONECTA Magaluf-Mallorca among over 270 international entries

International participation has been particularly strong in this edition, with Europe contributing a significant share of entries and the Americas emerging as a key partner region. Within this context, the Balearic presence — accounting for 15% of Spanish submissions — underscores the strength and maturity of the local content production ecosystem.

A notable trend in this year’s edition is the rise of new storytelling formats, especially vertical series and mobile-first microdramas, reflecting evolving audience consumption habits and industry innovation.

Finalist projects will compete for a range of awards combining financial support, production and post-production services, and access to high-level international markets. These incentives aim to accelerate project development and facilitate their transition into fully realized productions.

The event’s international dimension is further enhanced through partnerships with leading industry platforms and markets, providing direct pathways for distribution and co-production opportunities. As such, CONECTA Magaluf-Mallorca continues to act as a strategic driver for the global positioning of Balearic audiovisual talent and the strengthening of the regional industry.
