His leadership has played a significant role in advancing the professionalization of the sector and reinforcing its economic relevance in the region.

Throughout his presidency, Vaquer has managed challenging periods for the nautical industry, standing out for his ability to engage with public administrations and his strategic vision in complex contexts. One of his most notable achievements has been the alignment of AENIB with ANEN (National Association of Nautical Companies), strengthening sector representation at both regional and national levels.
Vaquer’s professional path dates back to the early 1990s, when he founded Jaume Vermell Náutica. Since then, he has maintained a continuous commitment to the development of nautical services in the Balearic Islands, establishing a leading company within the sector.
The Marcial Sánchez Barcáiztegui Award, presented annually by PIBS, recognizes companies, organizations and individuals who have contributed to the growth of the nautical sector.
