Strong participation in the “Sabores d’Abans, Salut d’Ara” project at Son Bru center of the Mallorca Council

The “Sabores d’Abans, Salut d’Ara” project, carried out at the Son Bru Personal Autonomy Promotion Center (CPAP) in Puigpunyent, has concluded with high participation and positive feedback from its users. The initiative, promoted within the framework of the Mallorca Institute of Social Affairs (IMAS), has focused on recovering traditional Mallorcan recipes adapted to the nutritional needs of older adults.

The president of IMAS and Minister of Social Welfare, Guillermo Sánchez, together with the Island Director of Community Care and Promotion of Personal Autonomy, Catalina Maria Mascaró Bestard, attended the final workshop of the program, where participants prepared stuffed aubergines to conclude the sessions.

Strong participation in the “Sabores d’Abans, Salut d’Ara” project at Son Bru center of the Mallorca Council

Launched in September, the project involved 20 participants who actively contributed to its development. Users themselves selected the recipes for each session, encouraging direct involvement and reinforcing the participatory approach of the initiative.

Throughout the program, one representative dish of Mallorcan cuisine was prepared each month, reinterpreted using cooking techniques and ingredients aligned with healthy eating criteria. The aim was to enhance nutritional quality while preserving traditional flavors.

The methodology combined theoretical sessions with shared cooking practice, guided by a specialized instructor. Each session concluded with a group tasting, creating opportunities for social interaction and exchange of opinions among participants.

The initiative has supported personal autonomy, emotional well-being and community life among users, while promoting healthy habits through cooking. As a final outcome, the project will be completed with a recipe book including photographs and detailed preparation instructions for each dish.
