The Government of the Balearic Islands has approved a €5 million funding package to launch a new call for grants aimed at improving energy efficiency and fostering innovation within the tourism sector. Led by the Directorate General of Tourism, this initiative forms part of a broader strategy to modernize the industry and promote a more sustainable and competitive tourism model.
Fully financed through the sustainable tourism tax, the scheme will continue the momentum of projects previously supported by European funding. Its primary objectives include optimizing operational processes, reducing the environmental footprint of tourism activities and encouraging the adoption of advanced technologies to enhance efficiency and performance.

The funding program is expected to be divided into two main areas. A total of €3 million will be allocated to energy efficiency measures, focusing on improvements to building insulation and energy systems in tourism establishments. Meanwhile, €2 million will support innovation projects designed to introduce new organizational models, digital solutions and value-added services within the sector.
The grants are primarily targeted at tourism businesses, with eligible projects ranging from €10,000 to €300,000 in total investment. All funded actions must be completed by March 31, 2028, ensuring a structured implementation timeline and measurable outcomes.
Through this initiative, the regional government reaffirms its commitment to transforming the tourism sector by prioritizing sustainability, efficient resource use and innovation. The measure supports a balanced growth model that aligns economic development with environmental protection and long-term sector competitiveness.
