The Sa Colàrsega bridge, located in the inner harbor of Ciutadella, has been opened to pedestrian traffic as part of the final phase of its rehabilitation process, marking a significant milestone in the restoration of this historic structure. The project, led by the Government of the Balearic Islands through Ports de les Illes Balears, is now approaching completion following the execution of its main structural works.
The intervention has successfully balanced the preservation of the bridge’s historical value with substantial improvements in structural safety. Key actions have included the installation of a new internal framework and the placement of the deck, ensuring the stability and functionality of the infrastructure while maintaining its original character.

Sa Colàrsega bridge opens to pedestrians in the final stage of its restoration
In the coming days, a load test is scheduled to take place, a crucial technical procedure that will assess the bridge’s performance before its full reopening to vehicular traffic. This test will confirm that the newly integrated structure meets all required safety standards.
At the same time, the ramp in the inner port of Ciutadella is already operational, enhancing port functionality and facilitating vessel activity during this final stage of the works. This initiative forms part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of port infrastructures while safeguarding key elements of local heritage.
