The Government of the Balearic Islands has approved the creation of two senior executive positions to strengthen the Strategic Projects Acceleration Unit (UAPE), a key structure designed to promote high-impact investments across the region. This measure enhances the unit’s operational capacity and improves the management of projects classified as of special strategic interest.

The newly established roles include a project coordination director and a project director, both responsible for streamlining procedures, overseeing project development and supporting strategic initiatives. These positions include a remuneration structure combining fixed annual salaries with performance-based variable components, aligned with efficiency and results-driven management.

The UAPE operates as a technical unit within the framework of strategic investment planning and coordination, serving as a central point of contact for private promoters involved in high-value projects. Its primary function is to facilitate interaction with public administration, accelerating processes and reducing bureaucratic barriers.

Key responsibilities include identifying and attracting investments eligible for strategic project status, conducting detailed assessments of applications and coordinating with evaluation bodies. The unit also acts as a one-stop service, supporting project promoters throughout implementation and ensuring administrative consistency.

In addition, the UAPE monitors project progress, provides ongoing support to stakeholders and reports on development status to the relevant authorities. Through this initiative, the Government reinforces its strategy to attract investment, enhance competitiveness and foster a more efficient and sustainable economic environment.
