Son Llàtzer University Hospital has strengthened its healthcare resources with the introduction of a sensory regulation cart aimed at improving patient care, particularly in the Paediatrics department. This initiative has been made possible through a donation from the MÁSqueTEA association, contributing to a more human-centred hospital environment and enhancing the overall patient experience.

The new resource is designed to address the needs of patients who may experience anxiety or disorientation in clinical settings, a situation commonly affecting children, elderly individuals and people with neurodivergent conditions. The hospital environment, often characterised by multiple stimuli and uncertainty, can generate emotional stress that complicates medical interventions.

The cart includes specialised materials intended to support emotional and cognitive self-regulation. Its use helps create a calmer atmosphere, facilitating interaction between healthcare professionals and patients, and improving patient response during medical procedures. In paediatric cases, these tools help reduce fear and encourage cooperation.

Furthermore, sensory and cognitive stimulation plays a significant role in pain management by promoting distraction, enhancing mood and preventing conditions such as delirium. Keeping the mind active during hospital stays helps preserve key functions such as memory, attention and language, supporting a more effective recovery process.

With this addition, Son Llàtzer University Hospital reinforces its commitment to delivering more personalised care, integrating innovative tools that enhance patient wellbeing and the quality of healthcare services.
