The Mallorca Council has presented the proposals for the Premis, Honors i Distincions 2026, the island’s highest institutional honours, which will be awarded on 12 September during the Diada de Mallorca celebrations. Among the main distinctions are the appointments of singers Rels B and Concha Buika as distinguished children of Mallorca, while actor Michael Douglas will be recognised as an adopted son of the island.
The island institution stated that these honours aim to recognise personal and collective achievements linked to culture, education, sport, solidarity, business and the protection of Mallorca’s heritage.
The selection process included a public participation phase in which residents, organisations and local councils were invited to submit nominations. The proposals were later discussed within the Board of Spokespersons, which includes representatives of all political groups, in order to reinforce institutional consensus before final approval at the ordinary plenary session scheduled for 11 June.
