Son Llàtzer University Hospital has held the graduation ceremony for 55 resident physicians and healthcare specialists who have successfully completed their specialised training programme, marking the end of an important stage defined by clinical learning, professional development and a strong commitment to healthcare quality. The event highlighted the dedication and achievements of the graduates while reinforcing the hospital’s role as a leading institution in specialised medical education.

Over the past year, the hospital has provided training to 162 residents from different specialties and stages of residency, strengthening its educational model focused on academic excellence, innovation and continuous improvement in patient care. The graduation ceremony recognised the successful completion of a demanding training pathway that equips healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge required for modern clinical practice.

The event also showcased the scientific achievements of the residents through the HUSLL–Mutual Mèdica Awards, which recognise outstanding research projects and the most highly valued general clinical sessions developed during the training period. In the research category, the first prize was awarded to a study examining the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating hot flashes in patients with advanced prostate cancer. The second prize recognised research evaluating the use of platelet-rich plasma as an adjuvant treatment in adult women diagnosed with lichen sclerosus who had previously received clobetasol therapy. Both projects demonstrate the commitment of resident specialists to advancing clinical knowledge and exploring innovative therapeutic approaches.

Regarding the general sessions category, the top award went to a multidisciplinary presentation addressing interstitial lung disease associated with systemic autoimmune disorders, while the second prize recognised a clinicopathological session focused on the analysis of a complex case involving progressive weakness in a patient with multiple chronic conditions.

The ceremony also included a reflection on the transition from residency to professional practice, highlighting the importance of lifelong learning, responsibility and dedication within the healthcare profession. The programme concluded with the presentation of graduation certificates and the institutional closing of the event.
