The Government of the Balearic Islands has approved the second payment under the 2025 housing rent assistance programme, a measure designed to support residents in meeting rental costs and maintaining access to their primary residence. Through this new resolution, nearly €2.1 million will be distributed to 848 beneficiaries, providing additional financial assistance to households facing housing affordability challenges.
With this second payment, the total amount allocated so far under the 2025 rent aid programme reaches €3.7 million, benefiting 1,510 people across the Balearic Islands. The figures reflect the ongoing implementation of a housing support policy aimed at easing the financial burden associated with renting a home.

The Government of the Balearic Islands approves the second 2025 housing rent aid payment, bringing total payments so far to €3.7 million
Mallorca accounts for the largest share of the approved aid, with approximately €2.7 million allocated to 1,125 beneficiaries. In Menorca, 264 people will receive support amounting to €625,000. In Ibiza, more than €265,000 has been assigned to 101 beneficiaries, while in Formentera nearly €55,000 will be distributed among 20 recipients.
The programme is governed by the conditions established for the 2022–2025 period and covers rental contracts with monthly payments of up to €900. However, the Government of the Balearic Islands considers this threshold insufficient in view of current housing market conditions across the islands, where rental prices continue to place significant pressure on many households.
For this reason, the regional administration has called for a revision of the existing limits with the aim of adapting future housing aid schemes to the realities of the Balearic rental market. The objective is to ensure that the next programme, planned for 2026, can provide broader support and respond more effectively to housing needs throughout the archipelago.
Through this latest resolution, the Government of the Balearic Islands reaffirms its commitment to housing policies focused on improving residential stability, supporting tenants and promoting access to housing across Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
