Mallorca Council has strengthened its support for the island’s commercial sector by increasing financial assistance for trade associations, federations and confederations by 50% for 2026. The new programme will allocate a total of €300,000, representing an additional €100,000 compared with the previous year and reinforcing efforts to promote local businesses and products from Mallorca.

The initiative is designed to encourage collective projects that enhance the visibility of local products, support traditional retail establishments and stimulate economic activity throughout the island. By strengthening the role of neighbourhood businesses and locally owned companies, the programme aims to contribute to sustainable economic development while preserving the distinctive commercial identity of Mallorca.

Funding will be available for projects focused on commercial promotion, marketing campaigns, consumer engagement initiatives and activities that increase awareness of products made or distributed locally. The programme also places particular emphasis on encouraging generational renewal within traditional businesses, helping ensure the continuity of long-established commercial enterprises.

One of the most significant developments in the 2026 call is the introduction of joint project applications. Two or more organisations will be able to collaborate on a single proposal, allowing them to develop larger and more ambitious initiatives that exceed the standard funding limits. This measure is intended to encourage cooperation across the sector and maximise the impact of promotional activities.

Under the new framework, individual projects may receive up to €50,000 in funding. Beneficiaries will also be able to request advance payments of up to 50% of the approved grant, improving financial flexibility during implementation. Each eligible organisation may submit up to four projects, while the justification period has been extended to provide greater administrative flexibility.

The increased investment reflects a broader strategy aimed at strengthening cooperation between business organisations and commercial representative bodies. Through collaborative projects and coordinated promotional actions, the programme seeks to enhance the competitiveness of local retailers and create new opportunities for commercial growth across Mallorca.

Previous editions of the scheme supported a range of initiatives, including promotional campaigns, consumer incentive programmes and recognition events designed to showcase the quality and value of local commerce and gastronomy. These activities helped strengthen connections between consumers and local businesses while encouraging greater awareness of products linked to Mallorca.

With this expanded budget, Mallorca Council continues to reinforce its commitment to local commerce, supporting initiatives that promote proximity-based business models, sustainable economic activity and the long-term development of the island’s commercial network.
