The Council of Mallorca will launch a new cultural initiative this June that will transform the Palau del Consell into a meeting place for music and artistic expression. Under the title Concerts a Palau, the programme will bring together four performances representing different musical styles and traditions, all of which will take place in the institution’s assembly hall over several weekends.
The series has been designed to broaden public access to cultural activities through a diverse programme featuring classical music, contemporary pop and rock, choral performances and innovative musical projects that blend traditional Mallorcan sounds with modern influences.
The opening concert, scheduled for 5 June, will feature the Van Roy-Roig Duo, formed by Mallorcan soprano Cristina Van Roy and pianist Joan Roig. Their performance will include a carefully selected repertoire of classical works and lieder, combining pieces by renowned composers with contemporary compositions in a programme that highlights both artistic excellence and musical sensitivity.

Palau del Consell to host a four-concert music series throughout June
The second concert will take place on 14 June with The Margarettes. The trio is known for its multilingual repertoire and versatile musical approach, performing songs in Catalan, Spanish and English while drawing inspiration from some of the most celebrated pop and rock classics from different decades.
On 21 June, audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy the performance of Ovella Negra, a project that explores the connection between Mallorcan folk traditions and jazz. The ensemble’s distinctive style creates a dialogue between heritage and innovation, offering a fresh interpretation of the island’s musical roots.
The series will conclude on 27 June with a performance by the Coral de Montlliri. Founded in 1910, the choir has developed a long-standing tradition of promoting and sharing vocal music, and its participation will bring the concert programme to a close with a celebration of choral artistry and cultural heritage.
Through this initiative, the Council of Mallorca reinforces its commitment to cultural promotion and public engagement, opening the doors of one of the island’s most emblematic institutional buildings to artistic projects that reflect the richness and diversity of Mallorca’s musical landscape. The Concerts a Palau series will offer residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy high-quality performances in a unique and historic setting.
