The Ministry of Education and Universities has launched a new mobility grant programme aimed at vocational education and training students who pursue their studies on an island different from their usual place of residence within the Balearic Islands. The initiative is designed to promote equal educational opportunities and reduce the challenges associated with geographical insularity.

The grants are available to students enrolled in Level D and Level E vocational training programmes delivered in person at publicly funded educational institutions. The programme seeks to provide financial support to learners who must relocate or travel to another island in order to access specific courses or secure a place in their chosen programme.

The scheme includes two separate funding lines. The first supports students who are required to study on another island due to the absence of a suitable programme or the lack of available places on their home island. Under this category, grants may reach up to €2,500 per academic year for Level D students and up to €1,500 for Level E students, depending on the modules successfully undertaken.

A key innovation in this year’s programme is the introduction of a dedicated funding line for students completing the Training in Companies or Equivalent Organisations phase (FEMPO) on an island different from the one where their educational institution is located. This measure addresses situations in which suitable workplace training placements are not available locally.

Financial support under this second category will be calculated according to the number of practical training hours completed outside the island where the student’s educational centre is based. The objective is to ensure that access to workplace learning opportunities is not limited by geographical or financial constraints.

Applications may be submitted between 1 June and 5 August 2026 through the designated electronic administrative platform. Students are required to submit a single application and meet the academic and enrolment conditions established for each funding category.

Through this initiative, the Balearic Islands continue to strengthen vocational education pathways while promoting territorial cohesion, educational accessibility and greater opportunities for students seeking specialised training across the archipelago.
