The Mallorca Fire Service has strengthened its emergency response capabilities with the addition of a state-of-the-art multifunctional vehicle specifically designed to manage highly complex incidents. Representing an investment of more than €752,000, the new unit marks a significant step forward in the modernization of the equipment and resources dedicated to public safety and emergency management across the island.

The vehicle is equipped with a high-performance hydraulic crane and an advanced Multilift system that enables the rapid exchange of specialized operational modules. Among its most notable technical features are a maximum lifting capacity of 33.8 tonnes and an operational reach exceeding 26 metres. These capabilities make it possible to carry out heavy lifting operations, technical rescues and interventions in demanding environments where specialized equipment is essential. The new unit significantly expands the resources available for managing large-scale emergencies.

The vehicle incorporates three interchangeable modules designed for different operational scenarios. The first module is dedicated to shoring and rescue operations in damaged or collapsed structures, supporting safe interventions in situations that present elevated risks for both victims and emergency personnel. The second module functions as a heavy water tanker carrying 6,000 litres of water, providing additional support for industrial and wildfire firefighting operations.

The third module consists of a sealed logistics container intended for the transport of specialized equipment and operational materials. This structure also offers a dedicated solution for electric vehicle battery fires, enabling the complete immersion of affected vehicles, a method increasingly used to manage incidents involving thermal runaway and battery combustion.

The introduction of this multifunctional vehicle forms part of the Mallorca Fire Service’s ongoing commitment to innovation, modernization and operational excellence. By combining advanced technology, modular functionality and specialized emergency equipment, the new unit will enhance the service’s ability to respond effectively to increasingly complex emergencies while strengthening public safety throughout Mallorca.
