The Mallorca Council has held the second meeting of the Volunteer Organisations Roundtable, a participatory and coordination forum that brought together around forty organisations from across the island to strengthen cooperation, exchange experiences and advance initiatives aimed at supporting the volunteer sector.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review progress made under the Island Volunteer Plan 2025-2027, a strategic framework created to build a stronger participation network, enhance coordination between public administrations and organisations, and address the evolving needs of volunteers and community groups throughout Mallorca.
Since the launch of the plan, extensive outreach work has been carried out with associations and local councils across the island. This direct engagement has helped identify common challenges faced by the sector, including programme management, volunteer recruitment, access to specialised training, increased public visibility and the need for more effective collaboration mechanisms.

Volunteering Gains Prominence in Mallorca with New Support Tools for Organisations
To address these priorities, several initiatives have been implemented in recent months. These include training programmes for municipal officials and technical staff, financial support schemes for volunteer projects, awareness and promotion campaigns highlighting the work of volunteer organisations, and the development of practical tools designed to encourage citizen participation.
Work is also progressing on the future Mallorca Volunteer Guide, a comprehensive resource that will showcase organisations, detail their programmes and indicate where they operate across the island. At the same time, efforts are underway to create a catalogue of available spaces that associations can use to carry out activities and strengthen cooperation with public institutions.
The Volunteer Organisations Roundtable is becoming an essential platform for dialogue, collaboration and policy monitoring. Through this initiative, Mallorca continues to reinforce the role of volunteering as a key driver of social cohesion, community engagement and collective well-being across the island.
