Mallorca’s residential care network for older adults continues to expand through new investments aimed at ensuring high-quality and locally accessible services across the island. In this framework, the President of the Council of Mallorca visited the municipal care home in Campos to gain first-hand insight into its daily operations and to underline the institutional commitment to strengthening public dependency care services.

The visit took place during the application period for the annual funding programme designed to support the management and maintenance of municipal public care homes. This year, the initiative has been allocated a total budget of €5 million, reinforcing the financial capacity of local authorities responsible for operating these essential facilities.

President Galmés Visits the Campos Residence and Highlights the €5 Million Allocated by the Council This Year to Municipal Care Homes

The Campos residence was among the centres that benefited from previous funding rounds, helping to strengthen its sustainability and operational capacity. The continued increase in financial support reflects a long-term commitment to a care model based on community proximity, allowing older residents to remain connected to their familiar surroundings while preserving family and social relationships.

At the same time, the Council of Mallorca is implementing a broader strategy to expand the island’s public residential care system. Planned actions include the construction of new facilities, the renovation and enlargement of existing centres, and the incorporation of additional publicly managed care places. These measures are expected to significantly increase residential capacity over the coming years, helping to improve dependency care services, reduce territorial imbalances, and provide older adults and their families with greater access to high-quality support close to their communities.
