The Government of the Balearic Islands continues to promote specialised training for local police forces with the aim of enhancing public safety and adapting municipal services to new operational challenges. Since the beginning of the current legislative term, the Balearic School of Public Administration has organised three editions of the training programme required to access the rank of officer, enabling more than fifty new commanders to join police departments across the islands.

The third group of trainees, made up of officers from Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza, is currently completing the practical phase of the programme at the Son Banya facilities. This final stage focuses on operational training and on improving the response to complex situations related to public safety and critical incidents.

The 240-hour training programme combines online learning with face-to-face sessions. It is structured around leadership and command, legal training and technical police skills, including subjects related to team management, conflict resolution, operational planning, coordination and the application of regulations concerning public safety.

The Balearic Government trains more than fifty new local police officers to strengthen municipal security

During the final stage, future officers take part in simulations and practical exercises based on real-life scenarios. Particular attention is given to crime prevention and the management of highly complex incidents that require immediate and coordinated responses to protect the population.

These exercises help participants strengthen decision-making under pressure, team coordination, resource management and operational leadership. The aim is to provide future commanders with the necessary skills to lead police interventions efficiently, safely and with a high level of coordination.

With this edition, the Balearic School of Public Administration completes the third officer training programme launched during the current legislative term. A total of 55 new police commanders have already been trained across the Balearic Islands, reinforcing a strategy aimed at providing municipalities with highly qualified professionals and improving the quality of public services.
