The Council of Mallorca has launched an extensive commemorative programme to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of the designation of the Serra de Tramuntana as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the cultural landscape category. Under the theme “Una pinzellada a la memòria. 15 anys, Patrimoni Mundial”, the initiative pays tribute to the generations of people whose efforts have preserved and passed on the natural, cultural and ethnological values that have made this area one of the Mediterranean’s most distinctive landscapes.

Running throughout June and July, the programme will bring together more than thirty activities across several municipalities within the Serra de Tramuntana. The schedule combines cultural, musical, gastronomic and educational events aimed at bringing residents and visitors closer to a landscape that reflects centuries of interaction between people and their environment.

Serra de Tramuntana marks fifteen years as a World Heritage Site with more than thirty cultural and gastronomic events in Mallorca

Among the main initiatives is the “La Serra en obert” programme, which will provide access to businesses and emblematic locations closely linked to the region. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover vineyards, olive groves, agricultural cooperatives, artisan workshops, farming estates and historic properties that form part of Mallorca’s cultural heritage.

Music will play a central role in the celebrations through concerts and performances that combine tradition, poetry and contemporary creativity in settings of remarkable heritage value. Literary presentations, exhibitions and educational events focusing on the identity and significance of the Serra de Tramuntana as a World Heritage Site have also been included in the programme.

One of the highlights will be the first edition of GastroFest in the Serra, to be held in Mancor de la Vall, showcasing products bearing the Serra de Tramuntana distinction through tastings, family activities, cooking competitions and musical performances. The main commemorative event will take place on 2 July in the gardens of Alfàbia, bringing together tributes, cultural performances and special moments dedicated to recognising all those who have contributed to preserving this exceptional cultural landscape.
