The Balearic Institute for Women (IBDONA) is collaborating in the organisation of this year’s Summer University on Gender Violence Studies at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), bringing together one hundred students and professionals to examine the growing challenges posed by gender-based violence in digital environments. The programme runs until Friday under the theme “Current Cartographies of Gender Violence: Technologies, Hate Speech and Feminist Resistance.”

The opening session featured IBDONA director Cati Salom together with representatives from the University of the Balearic Islands, who highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation between universities, public institutions and society to prevent and address all forms of violence against women.

IBDONA supports UIB Summer University focused on digital violence against women

This year’s programme focuses on how digital communication is contributing to the emergence of new forms of gender-based violence. The training includes lectures, workshops and panel discussions covering online dating platforms, the spread of misogyny in cyberspace, co-educational initiatives in schools, and the role of video games and pornography in reinforcing violence against women.
