The Centre Cultural la Misericòrdia is hosting “Buits: espais per a la mirada”, the new exhibition by sculptor Vicenç Mulet. Featuring 25 large-scale steel works, the exhibition strengthens La Misericòrdia’s position as a key venue for contemporary artistic creation in Mallorca.
Open to the public in the Aljub exhibition rooms until 22 September 2026, the show explores the relationship between form, space and matter. Since its opening, it has attracted considerable public interest, bringing contemporary sculpture closer to audiences through a proposal centred on the expressive possibilities of steel.
Vice-President of the Consell de Mallorca and Councillor for Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca, highlighted the exhibition as an opportunity to discover and experience large-scale contemporary sculpture. She also emphasised La Misericòrdia’s role as an open and accessible cultural space that encourages connections between the public, Mallorca’s artistic talent and contemporary forms of creative expression.

“Buits: espais per a la mirada” by Vicenç Mulet opens La Misericòrdia to contemporary sculpture
Curated by Bàrbara Galmés Chicón, “Buits: espais per a la mirada” offers a journey through Vicenç Mulet’s artistic practice, characterised by powerful forms, vertical volumes and circular or diagonal voids that reshape the surrounding space and encourage visitors to observe each work at a measured pace.
Steel is the defining material of the 25 sculptures on display. Oxidised, raw or polished depending on the individual work, it takes on different textures and visual qualities, enabling Mulet to evoke movement, balance and rhythm despite the apparent stillness and solidity of the structures.
Through this exhibition, La Misericòrdia continues to strengthen its role as a leading cultural and artistic venue in Mallorca, providing new opportunities for the public to engage with contemporary art and discover the work of creators connected to the island’s cultural landscape.
