La Misericòrdia has hosted the premiere of “Una veu plena de nius”, the central event commemorating the centenary of the birth of Blai Bonet. Held as part of the “La lluna en vers” festival and promoted by the Consell de Mallorca through the Fundació Mallorca Literària, the performance filled the Pati de les Dones and received an excellent response from the audience.

The recital brought together four highly regarded actors: Mercè Sampietro, Sílvia Bel, Toni Gomila and Jaume Madaula. Through a series of shared readings, the performers brought Blai Bonet’s work to contemporary audiences, highlighting the intensity, richness and enduring relevance of the Santanyí-born writer’s literary universe.

The production also featured the voice of Mar Grimalt, one of the emerging talents of Mallorca’s experimental scene, alongside music by Carles Medina. Their contributions complemented the readings and helped create an immersive theatrical experience centred on Bonet’s words and poetry.

Blai Bonet’s words resonate powerfully at La Misericòrdia with the premiere of the central event marking the centenary of the writer’s birth: “Una veu plena de nius”

Vice-President and Councillor for Culture and Heritage Antònia Roca highlighted the central role of “Una veu plena de nius” within the Any Blai Bonet programme and the importance of presenting the author’s work through contemporary artistic languages capable of connecting different generations. The event at La Misericòrdia placed Bonet’s writing at the heart of the cultural programme while reaffirming the continuing relevance of his literary legacy.

Following its premiere in Palma, “Una veu plena de nius” will be performed tomorrow, Sunday, in Santanyí, Blai Bonet’s hometown. The performance will take place at 8 pm in the courtyard of Col·legi Bisbe Verger, in an event of particular symbolic significance as the poet’s words return to the place closely connected with his life, memory and work.

Throughout 2026, the Any Blai Bonet continues with an extensive programme exploring the writer’s extraordinary creative legacy. Recitals, literary routes, exhibitions, performances, conversations and educational initiatives form part of a commemorative programme that becomes particularly active during the summer months.

Upcoming events include the “BlaiVeu” film series, featuring three screenings connected with the poet’s creative universe and films by Pasolini, Antonioni and Godard. The sessions are scheduled for 22 July, 5 August and 19 August, with free admission subject to prior reservation.

The centenary programme also expands on Sunday, 19 July, with the opening of “On els mals camins se perden” at Casa Blai Bonet. Created by the Cabosanroque collective, the artistic installation explores the concept of freedom through Blai Bonet’s poetic universe and will remain open throughout the summer.

Through this wide-ranging cultural programme, the centenary of Blai Bonet continues to promote and renew awareness of one of Mallorca’s major literary voices, bringing his work to new audiences through literature, performing arts, music, cinema and contemporary artistic creation.
