The public MELIB charging network continues to expand across the Balearic Islands with the addition of twenty new electric vehicle charging points located at Inca Regional Hospital and in the town of Can Picafort. The initiative strengthens the islands’ charging infrastructure and improves access to electric mobility services in two strategic locations, supporting the transition towards cleaner and more sustainable transport.

Ten new charging points are now operational at the photovoltaic parking facility of Inca Regional Hospital. The chargers provide up to 22 kW of power, allowing hospital users, staff and visitors to recharge their electric vehicles while using the site’s facilities. The service follows the standard MELIB pricing model, with a charging rate of €0.25 per kWh.

The Balearic Islands expand the MELIB network with new electric vehicle charging points in Inca and Can Picafort

The installation completes the renewable energy project developed at the hospital car park, which features 1,044 solar panels producing clean electricity for the healthcare facility. By combining renewable power generation with electric vehicle charging infrastructure, the project represents an integrated approach to sustainable energy and transport.

At the same time, another ten charging points have entered service in the public car park on Josep Maria Llompart Street, number 11, in Can Picafort. The facility includes five dual semi-fast chargers with a maximum output of 22 kW and applies the same charging rate of €0.25 per kWh, further extending the coverage of the MELIB public network in northern Mallorca.

The expansion of the MELIB network reinforces the availability of charging infrastructure throughout the Balearic Islands, encouraging wider adoption of electric vehicles while supporting a more efficient mobility model and accelerating the transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy system.
