The Institute of Balearic Studies (IEB) has launched a new programme of Catalan language courses running from September 2026 to January 2027. Online enrolment will be open from 1 to 11 September, with courses available at all levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2 and LA.

The courses will be offered in several formats, including face-to-face, blended, virtual classes and online learning. Ten municipalities have joined the programme: Alaró, Binissalem, Calvià, Consell, Eivissa, Inca, Palma, Sant Joan, Sant Llorenç des Cardassar and Sencelles.

Classes will begin during the week of 28 September 2026 and finish during the week of 15 January 2027. Participants may enrol in only one course per intake.

IEB opens enrolment for Catalan courses at all levels in ten Balearic Islands municipalities

Face-to-face and virtual courses will each consist of 75 hours of tuition, while blended courses will have a duration of 35 hours.

Enrolment must be completed online through the platform provided by the Institute of Balearic Studies.

The general programme is once again complemented by specific courses for IBSALUT employees, offered in collaboration with the institution. During 2026, the IEB is also continuing to organise introductory Catalan courses for various organisations, including the Casal de Asociaciones de Inmigrantes, as well as workshops for families in educational centres.

Llorenç Perelló, Director General of Culture and Vice-President of the IEB, explains that, as in the previous two years, the Institute is promoting Catalan courses at all levels in order to reach the entire population.

Perelló also highlights the IEB’s collaboration with other organisations to make learning Catalan more accessible to specific groups that may have difficulties accessing a general course.
