Illes Balears Palma Futsal has taken its official photograph for the 2026-27 season aboard La Balear, the historic Mallorcan vessel recently restored by the Consell de Mallorca. The photo session brought together the futsal team and representatives of the island institution and Andratx Town Council.

The second vice-president of the Consell de Mallorca and councillor for Environment, Rural Affairs and Sports, Pedro Bestard; the island director of Sports, Toni Prats, and the mayor of Andratx, Estefanía Gonzalvo, welcomed the club’s 14 players and its sporting staff.

Club president José Tirado and coach Antonio Vadillo also took part in the event.

The official 2026-27 season photograph was taken aboard La Balear, a century-old traditional «barca de bou» built in 1929. The vessel preserves traditional sailing navigation using trawling methods and forms part of Mallorca’s maritime heritage.

Pedro Bestard highlighted the connection between sport and heritage represented by the photograph: «The union of sport and heritage is the key to this photograph. What better than a club such as Illes Balears Palma Futsal, which has made history, together with a “barca de bou” with history and which forms part of Mallorca’s maritime heritage».

Bestard also said that «La Balear is not just any vessel: for the people of Mallorca it has become a symbol of the recovery of the island’s seafaring past».
