Inca Town Council has launched a line of aid for the purchase of textbooks or substitutes material for the 2021/2020 school year. For the second consecutive year, the budget item for this grant is 90,000 euros, after a 50% increase in 2020.
“In the face of the crisis generated due to VOCID-19, last year we decided to increase the budget in order to be able to meet all the requests. The purpose of this grant is to help Inca families with children of compulsory school age who have financial difficulties in covering the cost of acquiring textbooks and school supplies,” explains the mayor of Inca, Virgilio Moreno.
For her part, the councillor for Education, Alice Weber, points out that “year after year we make an effort to simplify the bases and make the requirements to make the application more flexible. In fact, this year we have also implemented an online system for appointments. All to simplify the procedures and make the help accessible to all those who really need it.
In this regard, Weber also emphasises that “we are planning to provide counselling to families to help them submit the documentation and ensure that no one is left out of the grant for administrative matters. All this, in order to continue moving towards the achievement of free compulsory school education.”
Therefore, Inca families with children of compulsory school age who have financial difficulties in coping with the cost of textbooks or substitute materials can apply for this assistance. The procedure for granting these regulated subsidies is that of competitive competition. Therefore, the budget allocation for this line of subsidies is distributed among all accepted applications, without ever exceeding the maximum amount of €200 per child.
The deadline for submitting applications will remain open until 30 September.
