The data collected up to Friday 5 November in the educational centres of the Balearic Islands and those of EDUCOVID (a specific health unit designed to monitor cases in the educational environment) show that the number of infections in educational centres is low.
In the week in question, 1 positive case was reported among teachers in the Balearic Islands, in Mallorca.
Of the total number of students in the Balearic Islands, around 213,000, 77 students have been notified as PCR positive (the previous week there were 78), a figure that represents 0.03% of the student body. Of this total, 63 in Mallorca (65 last week), 12 in Menorca (1 last week), 2 in Ibiza (13 last week) and towards Formentera (same as last week). Most of these students are positive for contact outside the school, since the contact studies carried out in schools are mostly negative.
There are 54 groups in quarantine this week (53 last week) in 34 schools (32 last week), of which 27 in Mallorca (29 last week), 5 in Menorca (0 last week), 2 in Ibiza (4 last week) and towards Formentera (same as last week). This represents 0.59% of the 9,043 groups in the Balearic Islands.
It should be mentioned that in terms of the total number of students who have started quarantine (884), 91.1% corresponds to the levels of infant and primary in which the students are not vaccinated. As for the number of pupils with positive PCR, 66.2% corresponds to infant and primary school and all groups in quarantine correspond to pupils at infant and primary school levels.
Despite the good data, extreme caution must be exercised and all preventive measures must be maintained in schools.
