By islands, Formentera (52%) increased by one percentage point and Menorca (57%) remained the same as in January. Eivissa (57%) and Mallorca (59%) lost two and four percentage points, respectively.

Even so, the Demand Unit (DU) of Eivissa registers, for the third consecutive month, a situation of normality and, therefore, leaves the pre-alert scenario of drought in which it has been since September 2020. Of the 10 DUs in the archipelago, only 2 are in pre-alert: Artà and Pla de Mallorca. Nevertheless, practically all the UDs have been suffering from a lack of rainfall since November. Next month, Migjorn could already be in pre-alert if it does not recover.

The AEMET data indicate that February has been very dry with an average of 2.4 l/m2 when the historical average is 44.2 l/m2. In Menorca, it rained 5.8 l/m2 when the historical average is 47 l/m2; in Eivissa, 0.8 l/m2 when the historical average is 39.2 l/m2; in Mallorca, 2.2 l/m2 when the historical average is 45 l/m2; and in Formentera, 1.3 l/m2 when the historical average is 23.6 l/m2.

The percentage of interannual precipitation in the Balearic Islands is 9 percentage points above the historical average. By islands, in Mallorca it is six points above; in Menorca, 16 points above; and in the Pitiusas, 21 points above.
