The illustrators from the Balearic Islands who are participating this year, through the IEB’s mobility aid, are Aina Bestard, Canizales and Toni Galmés, who are present in the catalogue of new publications that the IEB has prepared for the Bologna event.

The IEB is also taking part this year in the Comics Corner, a new section of the fair devoted to comic books for children and young readers. A selection of works by authors such as Francesc Grimalt, Anabel Colazo, Víctor Escandell, the brothers José Antonio and Javier Bizarro, and Óscar Martín will be on display.

On the other hand, the Artanenc illustrator Pere Ginard is taking part in the great exhibition of illustrators at the international children’s and young people’s book fair in Bologna, which has previously featured the Balearic illustrators Aina Bestard and Violeta Lópiz.

The aim of the IEB’s participation is to meet with publishers to promote illustrators from the Balearic Islands. Many of these publishers have already benefited from the IEB’s book publishing subsidies. In 2021 alone the IEB has supported 120 applications for subsidies for book publishing, of which approximately 45 correspond to comic books or illustrated books for children and young people.

In addition, the IEB seeks to establish new contacts and expand the network of collaborators and publishers interested in collaborating with authors from the Balearic Islands.
