The gala was held this weekend at the Cemal Reşit Rey Konser Salonu in the Turkish city, attended by more than 300 personalities from the country’s cultural and political spheres. During her speech, the director of the curious museum, Aina Ferrero, stressed “the importance of revisiting traditions and history in their contemporary global context in close collaboration with the communities involved”.

At the ceremony, which included performances of Turkish and classical music and speeches by the most important political personalities in Istanbul, the video was shown with subtitles in English and Turkish with which the Inca Shoe Museum defended its candidacy for European Museum of the Year in Estonia on 7 May, where it won one of the most prestigious awards in Europe, the Prize for Participation and Commitment to Citizenship.
