Inca City Council today presented the first participatory budget campaign to be launched in the municipality. This year, for the first time, the council has earmarked 500,000 euros for participatory investments so that citizens can decide the destination of part of the municipal resources.
“Our intention is to motivate citizens to become active protagonists of the municipality, through their involvement in identifying needs and finding possible solutions. With this participatory budgeting process we give a voice to the stakeholders so that together we can make the best possible decisions,” says the mayor of Inca, Virgilio Moreno.

Thus, today marks the start of the voting period, through which all interested parties can choose the proposals they would like to see carried out this year. In total, 13 projects have been selected, from which the public will be able to choose 5 and rate them from 1 to 5, according to the initiatives they consider to be the most important and priority ones.
The voting period will be open until 30 June. The public can give their opinion through the virtual application: https://participa.incaciutat.com/ In parallel, to reach all citizens, there will also be street consultations and a group of animators will visit the different neighbourhoods and important points of Inca to publicise the initiative and encourage people to participate.
“It is important to promote dynamisation with the aim of reaching all citizens and encouraging participation. In this way, we can adjust municipal spending to the needs and priorities of the majority of stakeholders, giving them the opportunity to decide and continue to improve our city together,” stresses the councillor for Participation, Andreu Caballero.
As part of this project, a prior citizen consultation has been carried out to find out first-hand the main needs, demands and suggestions of the city’s citizens. In this way, with the information gathered in all the meetings and encounters held with the different groups, associations and associations, the 13 proposals that can currently be voted on have been drawn up.
In general, therefore, the aim of this initiative is to improve communication and relations between citizens and the local administration, to generate active and positive reflection among the population, and to work towards greater transparency and efficiency in municipal management through citizen participation.
