Around twenty cyclists from Mallorca will take part this weekend in the Spanish Professional, Elite and Under-23 Cycling Championships – road and timed races – which will be held next Thursday and Sunday in the towns of Son Servera, Sant Lorenzo des Cardassar and Palma.
The Minister of the Presidency, Javier de Juan, has paid a visit to the team’s training camp in Cala Millor, where he has spent some time with the athletes, members of the Balearic under-23 men’s national team, the Arabay team and the professional runner Mavi Garcia, among other participants.
Mallorca will be the venue, for the first time, of the most important cycling competition of the Spanish professional male and female calendar, in the absolute, under 23 and elite categories, which puts in play the Spanish championship trophies in the different disciplines on the road and against the clock.
De Juan has expressed his best wishes to the Mallorcan delegation, in the presence of the top Spanish cycling leader, José Luís López Cerrón and the president of the Federació Balears de Ciclisme, Fernando Gilet.
The Consell de Mallorca, through the Fundació Mallorca Turisme, supports this top-level sporting event, which generates great national and international projection, as is also demonstrated by the annual celebration of the Challenge Volta a Mallorca, which also has the support of the Consell, the FMT and the Consorci Serra de Tramuntana.
The 2022 edition will begin with the time trial races on Thursday, while the following days will be dedicated to the road races of all the categories. The counter-race events will be held on a circular circuit between Cala Millor, Sant Llorenç and Son Servera. And the in-line races will take place between Cala Millor and Palma, with a final circuit in Ciutat that will include the ascent to Coll de sa Creu.
