The Consell de Govern has approved the granting of three direct subsidies worth 180,105.24 € to the Red Cross, Doctors of the World and the Oblate Sisters – Casal Petit to finance the hiring of specialised personnel to carry out tasks associated with the accreditation and accompaniment of women in prostitution and women victims of trafficking.
Specifically, €60,000 will be allocated to each of these entities to detect women in a situation of trafficking or prostituted women in a situation of vulnerability, with the aim of offering them support and advice.
In this way, the entities will be able to implement the accreditation of trafficking victims in order to access the social resources and rights offered by the Government of the Balearic Islands and the Spanish Government for victims of male violence, following an accreditation model that will be offered by IBDONA.
Thus, women who obtain accreditation through the entities will have access to the social protection system and the appropriate aid without having to file a complaint with the security forces, which is often not done for fear of reprisals, among other reasons.
The entity that carries out the accreditation, with the consent of the presumed victim, will communicate this to the Government Delegation, for the purposes of formal identification. This will lead to regularisation in cases where the victim has an irregular administrative situation. In any case, this new accreditation for victims of trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation will be for all victims of this form of male violence, regardless of its origin.
This fulfils the main agreement adopted by the monitoring group of the Plan to Combat Trafficking in Women and Girls for the Purpose of Sexual Exploitation in the Balearic Islands at its last meeting last April.
