The Consell de Goverm has approved, this Monday, to grant the Minister of Environment and Territory the prior authorisation to exercise the competence to authorise and dispose of the expenditure corresponding to the transfer file in favour of the Balearic Agency for Water and Environmental Quality (ABAQUA), for an amount of 1,806,163.83 euros for the implementation project of a reservoir at the desalination plant of Formentera.
The installation of this tank will allow execution, then, the tasks of structural rehabilitation of the existing one, since it will serve to store and regulate the water produced to the desalination plant of the island while the actions last.
The tasks to be carried out include the construction of the structure of the new tank, with a capacity of 2,500m3, with the formation and waterproofing of the roof; a new pumping house; connection pipes to the new tank with the recirculation and chlorination system, and new electrical and control installations.
The island’s Seawater Desalination Plant (IDAM) currently has a 17,500m3 tank and the new complementary installation will increase the storage and regulation capacity by an additional 2,500m3.
