The Consell de Govern has declared as an investment of regional interest the interventions planned by the Health Service to build the new SAMU 061 base on the grounds of the Hospital Universitari Son Llàtzer. The Health Service will move the permanent base of the SAMU 061 on-call staff from the current building, within the grounds of the Son Dureta Hospital, to the grounds of the Son Llàtzer University Hospital.

The Health Service will carry out comprehensive works within the complex that make it necessary for the on-call staff that attends to the ambulances to move from the service of the modular facilities that have been occupied by 061, located within the grounds.

The new SAMU 061 base consists of a modular structure currently installed on the grounds of the Son Dureta Hospital, which will be moved to the grounds of the Son Llàtzer University Hospital. The total usable area will be 252 m2, which will include a waiting room, several rest areas, a storeroom and changing rooms. The surface area is planned for an occupancy of 42 people.

The Health Service will recover the emblematic space of the former Son Dureta University Hospital to adapt it to these new needs based on the desire to integrate the health and social spheres, with the aim of creating an innovative care model clearly oriented towards chronic patients who need a comprehensive, multidimensional assessment in order to draw up an interdisciplinary plan of action that provides the care and rehabilitation appropriate to each clinical situation.
