The Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) has published this Saturday the resolution by which grants are awarded and denied to encourage the modernisation of retail commercial companies and certain service companies, as well as the continuity of commercial establishments and certain services considered emblematic, with special attention to commercial establishments and certain services affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
This is an aid package of 2,200,000 euros with which the government aims to facilitate the continuity of the commercial activity of local commercial establishments and certain services, and their adaptation to competitive criteria, in order to alleviate the serious economic consequences that the health crisis caused by COVID 19 has caused to the small business sector in the Balearic Islands.
You can consult the list of companies that have been accepted for the aid at the following link: https://intranet.caib.es/eboibfront/ca/2022/11620/664310/resolucio-del-conseller-de-transicio-energetica-se
In the words of the Vice President and Minister for Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, Juan Pedro Yllanes, “the fact that we have achieved a record number in terms of budget and applicants speaks to us of the importance and the need for companies to continue advancing in their modernisation. The Government is and will be on the side of those companies that want to continue progressing in their business. I would like to remind you that this is aid for investments made by the businesses themselves, which means mobilising by 2 or 3 the amounts invested by the Vice-presidency, in the order of 4 to 6 million euros”.
A total of 335 businesses on the Islands will benefit from the aid
The recipients have been 335 shops from all the islands, with a physical establishment at street level, mainly self-employed, micro-enterprises or family businesses. The Directorate General for Trade has received a total of 755 applications, 100% more than those received in the 2019 call, at the beginning of the legislature, of which 660 have been sent in due time and form.
The subsidies included in this call are included in the Strategic Subsidy Plan of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands for the 2021-2023 financial years, which includes, among other actions, the call for aid for the promotion of the commercial fabric, competitive improvement plans, marketing and design plans, as well as actions to improve competitiveness and/or promote the commercial fabric.
The investments that are the object of the applications must be executed and paid for between 16 September 2021 and 15 September 2022. Furthermore, it should be noted that the deadline for justifying the implementation of the subsidised activities and for requesting payment of the subsidy is 15 September 2022.
