Since the implementation of the shock plan to reduce waiting lists, the hospitals in the Health Service network have carried out a total of 60,351 medical acts in extraordinary activity by professionals in the afternoon.

From April to July, 1,826 surgeries were performed in the afternoon; 35,717 hospital consultations; 6,962 diagnostic tests within medical consultations and 15,846 diagnostic imaging tests.

This increase in extraordinary activity has led to a significant reduction in waiting lists – especially for those patients who had been waiting the longest – thanks to the significant efforts made by healthcare professionals.

The Health Service will invest €18,121,037 in this shock plan to tackle waiting lists in hospital care, with the intention of drastically reducing the delays for surgery, a consultation with a specialist doctor or a diagnostic test generated as a result of scheduled hospital activity being paralysed due to COVID-19.

The aim of the 18 million euro plan is to reach a total of 367,100 medical acts, whether they are surgical interventions, specialist consultations or diagnostic tests. In total, 9,202 surgical interventions, 155,859 outpatient consultations and 202,039 diagnostic tests are planned.
