The Consell de Govern has approved today to authorise the Minister of Education and Vocational Training to exercise the powers of authorisation and provision of the expenditure corresponding to the extraordinary transfer in favour of the Balearic Institute of Educational Infrastructures and Services (IBISEC) in order to execute and finance several construction works of new infant and primary education centres, including the new CEIP of Inca and the expansion project of the CEIP Blai Bonet of Santanyí, for an amount of nine million five hundred and one thousand one hundred and eighty euros (9,501,180 €).
9.5 million euros for the CEIP of Inca and the enlargement of CEIP Blai Bonet
The objective is to execute and finance the construction of a new nursery and primary schools in Inca and the expansion and refurbishment of CEIP Blai Bonet in Santanyí, motivated by the resolution by mutual agreement of several collaboration agreements between the Regional Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, IBISEC and the town councils of the municipalities where these schools are to be built due to the difficulties encountered in the corresponding calls for tenders.
Major work at CEIP Blai Bonet in Santanyí
With a budget of more than 2.8 million euros, the expansion project includes all the necessary spaces to convert the centre into a double-line CEIP (6 + 12 units) and cover the schooling needs of the municipality.
This action will allow for the removal of the five existing modular classrooms and will allow for the return of the premises ceded by the town council, which are currently used as a music room and dining room.
A new school in Inca for 450 pupils
With a planned investment of 6,686,887 euros, the project foresees the construction of a school with a capacity for 450 pupils and with 6 units of infant education and 12 units of primary education.
This project will add a new school to the municipality’s educational infrastructure and solve schooling problems.
These works are part of the 2016-2023 Educational Infrastructure Plan for all the Balearic Islands, which aims to respond in an orderly and objective manner to the structural needs of educational centres in the Balearic Islands.
The expenditure of more than 9.5 million euros will be distributed in three annual instalments between 2022 and 2024.
