In Menorca, the new route was also unveiled at an event attended by the Director General of Sports of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Carles Gonyalons; the president of the Consell de Menorca, Susana Mora; representatives of the airline and representatives of the sports federations.
At both events, it was announced that the airline will operate between Ibiza and Menorca every weekend throughout the year. Flights between Ibiza and Menorca will take off on Saturdays at 8:00 am and Sundays at 4:40 pm; and between Menorca and Ibiza, on Saturdays at 9:45 am and Sundays at 6:25 pm, schedules adapted to the demand for this route.
This new service will be launched on the 30th of October.
The Minister of Mobility and Housing, Josep Marí, said: “Improving connectivity is always good news, especially this route, which is in great demand by the Government of the Balearic Islands. We welcome this announcement, as we are linking two islands that have often been far apart due to the lack of services between them”.
For his part, the Director General of Sports, Carles Gonyalons, declared: “At last we are seeing the reality of a service that was so much in demand by the whole world of sport; from now on, our sportsmen and women will be able to attend competitions held on the other islands without having to make a stopover”.
It should be remembered that the Plenary of the Balearic Sports Assembly, last October 2020, approved to urge the different administrations so that the air route between Ibiza and Menorca would operate on weekends for the benefit of the island’s sportsmen and sportswomen.
The flight is scheduled to last an hour and a quarter and, as for the fare, with the resident’s discount, the cheapest price is 28 euros. There is also an additional 10% discount for sports clubs federated in official competitions in the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands.
