The objective is to improve public infrastructures in order to provide services at speeds of 1 gigabit for health centres, libraries, educational and training centres and any centre providing a public service of a welfare, social or equality nature, as well as publicly-owned R&D centres.
The UNICO – Public Services programme is a line of aid managed by the Directorate General for Modernisation and Digital Administration and financed by the Next Generation EU Recovery and Resilience Mechanism through the Spanish Government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
In the words of the Councillor for European Funds, University and Culture, Miquel Company, “the transformation of the economic and social model also requires agile, accessible, efficient and digital public administrations that place public service at the centre of their daily activity. With this aid to improve the connectivity of local public services, we are taking another step towards the 21st-century administration that our society needs”.
