\ The aim is to have the same fishing regulations throughout the Natura 2000 Network declared by the Government of the Balearic Islands.

Decree regulating sea fishing and shellfishing in Natura 2000
The Consell de Govern has approved today the decree that regulates sea fishing and shellfishing in the areas that make up the European ecological network Natura 2000 declared by the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands so that throughout the Natura 2000 Network there is the same rules on fishing. This will facilitate its application by the administrations and compliance by the interested parties.
In this sense, when this decree comes into force, if it is a marine reserve, the regulations of the marine reserves will be applied if they are more restrictive. As for recreational fishing, the same regulations will apply as outside the network. In the case of artisanal fishing, for longline fishing, from February to July, measures will be applied to avoid the accidental capture of various; for gillnets, a maximum period of stay at sea of 24 hours will be established, and all the remains of coralline algae will have to be returned to the sea quickly.
With this decree, in addition, to trawling, where it is possible to practice it (by depth, distance from the coast and type of bottom), the boats will have to carry pelagic doors. In addition, adaptation periods of two (longline) and five (trawl) years will be established to adapt to the regulations.
Other specific modifications of the four decrees
The Consell de Govern has also approved today the specific modification of four more decrees.
In detail, Decree 22/2016, of April 22, which regulates the measures for the diversification of the fisheries and aquaculture sectors of the Balearic Islands (Fishing Tourism) is modified. In this sense, it will allow the compulsory insurance to be the same as that provided for in the state regulations.
Decree 22/2018, of July 6, which regulates the landing, first sale, traceability and control of fishery products to the archipelago, is also modified. Thus, the value of the maximum purchase at the points of first sale is increased from 50 to 300 euros, provided it is for own consumption. In this way, the aim is to facilitate direct sales to private individuals.
As for Decree 55/2022, of December 19, which regulates diving in the professional, extractive, scientific and for public service purposes in maritime and continental waters of the Balearic Islands, the modification is justified to promote marine scientific research, thus facilitating the practice of scientific diving through the presentation of an accredited certificate of experience.
Lastly, it has been approved to modify Decree 19/2019, of March 15, which establishes the Pluriinsular Management Plan for fishing with traditional fishing gear in the Balearic Islands. In this sense, it will be possible to start the jonquillo season next December 18, thus complying with the conditions established by the European Commission.
